The Beacon of Hope was designed by the group to acknowledge the In Bloom year that never happened due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we didn’t want to create a memorial which may upset people. We wanted to combine a mark of respect to the NHS, Key Workers, Food Banks, Royal Voluntary Service volunteers, survivors, those who have lost the fight with Covid and those still living with Covid with a rainbow. But also create beacons to show there’s light at the end of the tunnel with restrictions easing. The way we look at it is after every storm or downpour you get a rainbow. The Beacon of Hope represents our rainbow after a downpour of 18 months.
